KOREAN DRAMA FAVORITES: EMPRESS KI

MEET THE CAST

NOTE A very important note: Sorry for my not-so-good character description but I’m not really good at it. I don’t want to end up telling it all about the character that I might as well just tell the entire story lol (I have a bad habit like that and I am not even a great story-teller HAHAHA!). Plus, there are far better blogs and websites that introduce the characters well and that you might want to check out (promoting *coughs* thetalkingcupboard.com, *coughs*). Just enjoy the pictures, then? HAHA! :D

Ki Seungnyang (Ha Ji Won) – A Goryeo-born woman who posed as a man to escape the destiny of being a tribute concubine to the Yuan Empire. As she carried out her vengeance on those who caused her mother’s death, she met and fell in love with the Goryeo King Wang Yoo whom she first recognized as a Censorate officer. Later on, as the story proceeded, Wang Yoo asked her to be his queen in Goryeo when the deposed king regains back his throne. However, as the course of fate changed for them, she ended up an imperial consort choosing Ta Hwan, the Emperor, over her first love, Wang Yoo. She was later promoted as the chief consort of third rank when she bore the emperor’s child. After the two empresses died, she became the new empress of Yuan.

Emperor Ta Hwan of Yuan (Ji Chang Wook) – Yuan prince and the eldest son of the late Emperor Myungjong, he was exiled to Goryeo and planned to be killed before the crown prince dies (his younger brother) to assure El Temur’s true reign over the Yuan Empire. However, the plot of killing him failed as Wang Yoo and his men tried their best to protect him for the sake of Goryeo. He was left guarded by Seungnyang during their attempt to escape his killers and head over to Yuan. He successfully made it to Yuan and became the emperor at the expense of Goryeo, the king, and Seungnyang.

He grew up illiterate as he was forbidden by El Temur to learn how to read and write as a child. He was coward, unskilled and selfish thinking only of his survival at the hands of El Temur. But, with the help of Seungnyang, he had his realizations and developed into a true emperor in the end.

King Wang Yoo of Goryeo (Joo Jin Mo) – Goryeo crown prince, he grew up preparing to battle out corruption in his land. He lived with the street gangs while improving his skills as part of his plan to uncover Wang Go’s illegal deals of Goryeo salt. He was helped by an anonymous individual who constantly sent him information regarding Wang Go’s deals.

One day after a brawl game, he heard of “The Jackal” who was known for his skills in split arrow and being the captain of a group who protects local merchants. He made a deal with him for an archery contest as a Censorate officer. After winning, he asked him to teach him the split arrow. Wang Yoo grew fonder of him as days passed. “The Jackal” was Seungnyang whom he discovered later on as the one who had been helping him uncover Wang Go’s ill works.

MORE CHARACTERS

Sabado, Mayo 2, 2015

If you’ve been in my about me page, you’ll remember I mentioned the drama “Empress Ki” as my current addiction by the time I established this blog. So, I think it’s quite obvious why my very first (official) post is dedicated to this drama.

Now, am I going to write summaries? No, I don’t think readers need one more blog dedicated to summaries. Am I going to write news? Well, could be. But you see, it’s been a year or two since the drama aired. LOL! So, what am I going to write about?

Well… Well… Well… *drumrolls*

RANDOMS!

Yeah, yeah. Random it is! I decided to write random things about certain Korean dramas. It can be about the stars, the characters, the plot, or anything else I can think of!

Now that’s something I can say that’s more enjoyable for fans out there than just read some summary posts I know I can’t totally pull off. Bring it on!
